Evacuation Begins
Later that day The Red Cross decided to start the evacuation with The Elders and the sick. I was classed as sick because of my athsma. I was on the first plane of the evacuation. When i got to the airport everythng was in firefighting mode.

There was a helicopter with a water bag for dropping water onto fires. Several water bombers had arrived from NWT. There were firefighters coming and going.
Flying Out
Two flights went out yesterday to start the evacuation. Here are a few sites I photographed as i went south to Prince Albert.

The first one is our hospital from the air. Next is the rapids in the Fond du Lac River just outside of town. The rapids that give Stony Rapids the name. Finally is a picture of a road that could not be in Lunenburg County. I’m in Prince Albert now….. waiting for news of the fire and returning to Stony.
The Situation Got Worse
A trip to the airport later that day showed that the air was getting heavy with smoke. Here is a water bomber in a yellow smoke haze.

The Smoke Thickened
The first view off my deck is morning …its thick then…. but by afternoon it was much thicker!!!!
Lightning Struck
Lightniing stuck and fires started. Uranium City was evacuated then Stony Rapids was on alert.
Land of the “almost” midnight sun
View from my window at 1:30am…….
We always have a wonderful sunset……..
